Whitney Houston: The Greatest One of All

The Icon

The saddest and most unexpected news came out yesterday, the eve before the 54th Grammys ceremony. . . as the icon Whitney Houston passes away at her hotel in Beverly Hills at the age of 48. From the classic film, The Bodyguard with Kevin Costner in 1992 to the favorites “The Greatest Love of All”, “I will always love you” and “Saving All My Love for You”, Whitney became a pop music queen for decades. Although Whitney’s latest years have been problematic, she shined like no other from the day of her debut in 1985 till the late 90s. We will never forget her songs growing up. . . her star quality, poise and authenticity. We’d like to think of her as the Julia Roberts of music. . . the girl next door becoming pretty woman. But most of all, she taught us a lot. . . her devastating end was a lesson to all of us who loved her. Respect and love yourself first and above all. . .
