In 2013 Paisley is back and prettier than ever.
Top designers are making paisley a fashion trend for 2013, with Stella McCartney leading the way in the revival of the fashion credential of paisley. The classic Paisley curled leaf shape is an ancient Eastern design. The Paisley design was first imported into Europe in the 17th century, largely in the form of wool and cashmere shawls. The design only became widely popular in the 19th century when the weavers in the Scottish town of Paisley used the patterns to produce their own versions of the Eastern design, woven on looms. The design then became known as Paisley. In the 1960’s paisley surged back into fashion, as the Beatles and others embraced Indian mysticism in the Summer of Love. Paisley was hippy and cool! Since then, paisley has fallen out of favor, until today when it’s highly used in the men’s collections of Raf Simons and Jil Sanders. Get ideas and be creative!
