I am so fascinated by fashion! I started my blog a little over a year ago as a homework assignment, believe it or not. I was taking a course in styling and one of the requirements was to start a blog. I didn’t know too much about it at the time but found that I stumbled on something amazing. It is a way for me to express my point of view and excitement about fashion through my own creative vision and voice, which is incredible (and so much fun)!

My style changes with my mood. It’s usually a mix of rock n roll edge, masculine polish and a demure, vintage vibe.

I look up to Coco Chanel and Diana Vreeland for their distinct style and the way they revolutionized the world of fashion. I am also obsessed with Taylor Tomassi Hill and Jenna Lyons.

My navy Celine Trapeze tote was my first major designer purchase. I named her Phoebe and bring her with me everywhere!

My mom’s silver chain tassel necklace that always adds the perfect touch of edgy drama to any look – dress or casual.

My grey patent leather Prada oxfords. They were doctor prescribed – no joke! After having surgery on my feet, my foot doctor told me to invest in a pair of amazing flat shoes so that I would wear my orthodics often. I’ve worn them for 4 years now and they get better with age!

Confidence is everything. It can transform your basic jeans-and-a-white-tee look from bland to Kate-Moss-cool.

Challenge yourself. Instead of throwing on the same look week after week, pause and think how can I edgify this look? How can I make it look different/better than the last time I wore it? Try layering and accessorizing to add dimension.

If it makes you dance in front of the mirror, it’s right. Fashion is emotional and what you wear should get you excited! When you look in the mirror, your clothes should make you want to bust a move. Let that be your benchmark.

Once a year I go through a TDK process: Toss, Donate or Keep. This way I am not overwhelmed with things I don’t wear. As for seasonal organizing, keep the most current season’s pieces in the front of your closet and keep rotating as the seasons pass.

NR: Do you exchange or give away clothes? Or you just use the alibi of keeping it because fashion returns and you are gonna use it in 10 years?

I give away clothes that I no longer wear or that are not in the best quality anymore. If it is a designer piece or something really special that I know will come back in style one day, I move it into storage. There are times when I regret giving things away. For example, I’ve been wishing I kept my Minnie Mouse tee from when I was 5 years old because I’ve been discussing Minnie’s comeback in fashion a ton on my blog. It would have been completely unrealistic to have saved it, and it probably would fit like a crop top but I still wish I did!

 NR: What are your favorite brands or designers?

Riccardo Tisci, Phoebe Philo, Philip Lim, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen and Sarah Burton, Jack and Lazaro of Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, Eddie Borgo, Pamela Love.

By uploading key pieces from my wardrobe, Netrobe gives me a different perspective and allows for a more creative way to mix and match my favorite pieces. I also love the idea of using the app to help me pack for a trip!

She shops a lot online! Rumi spends about 80% of my time breaking down cardboard boxes. Shopbop and NET-A-PORTER’s ‘What’s New’ sections are very much bookmarked on her browser. In L.A. she loves Barney’s in Beverly Hills, Opening Ceremony, and Creatures of Comfort.

Right now she is wearing a lot of Hortense and Catbird and Jennifer Zeuner. Mr. Kate is a favourite too… Diptyque Philosykos is her go-to scent and loves it because it is not so sweet.

Rumi’ s Chloe sandals. She loves the braided straps and the otherwise clean design. She wears them with shorts or a flimsy white dress, but also loves the idea of wearing them with the right silver piece, too.

This satin orange jacket is Suzie’s first item from Dries Van Noten. The shoes and trousers are from Yoox, which is her top hunting ground for most of her designer duds. Suzie  hardly pays full price for anything because she is a innate bargain hunter!

Suzie loves flatforms and she is happy that Moonspoon Sallon revived the trend. As she says ” they give height without the pain—what’s not to like? ” She has about six pairs of brothel creepers, both vintage and new. These  bronze ones are the latest addition!

The satin heels are by Christopher Kane and they were meant for his S/S ’12 show, but in the end, he decided to use the pool sandals that you see on the right. Suzie couldn’t resist the pretty satin when she saw them at the sample sale (which is legendary in London).

The boots are by a young fashion graduate Xiao Li, who competed in China’s version of Project Runway with a collection inspired by tin toys and these beaded Timberlands were part of that. The jacket is Suno, one of her favourite labels from New York.

Whitney loves to divvy her clothes into categories : pants, skirts, casual or glam dresses

Shoes! Some of her  favourite shoe brands right now on the more expensive side would be Valentino, Alexander Wang, and Giuseppe Zanotti. For less expensive shoes she love Converse, Vans and Dr. Martens.

NR: Hello Calliope! Thanks for inviting us to your stunning home today! Every corner seems to be a magical discovery with unique references from your Hellenic heritage, but mostly with Indian influences. How did this journey and love affair begun for you?

QC: I have always been fascinated with the richness of traditions and old cultures. Greece and India are the two greatest examples and they inspire me very much, since I was a child.

NR: You are a world-renowned fashion and portrait photographer, Vogue collaborator, author, fashion and jewelry designer and most recently mother – all simultaneously. It seems like nothing stops you. What inspires you to go on and venture into new things all the time?

QC: I always has creative visions and a great need to express them. I am a consummate artist, I live and breath creativity and beauty. I cannon imagine my life without it. I paint, photograph, write, decorate, sing, make jewellery.

NR: You have a very distinct style, when dressing up. How would you describe it?

QC: I am a bohemian, an artist at heart. My way of dressing is my way of expressing that…unconventional yet creatively glamorous!

NR: How different or similar are your closets in New York, Athens and Patmos?

QC: My closets are similar everywhere…caftans in velvet, cotton, silk are a must! Ethnic antique jewellery too.

NR: Do you have any style icons?

QC: Lulu de la Falaise, Frida Kahlo, Duchess of Windsor, Audrey Hepburn.

NR: Where do you like to shop?

QC: I love shoping in the new york flea markets! I get so excited when I find unique beautiful pieces crafted with skill and quality!

NR: You recently launched your own fashion and jewelry label – Queen Calliope. It’s bold, colorful, bright, exotic and passionate like you. Can a woman wear you in her life everyday?

QC: Of course women can wear my things anytime, they don’t have to wear the look, but they can wear bits and pieces, a bag, a pair of of earrings, a shawl.

NR: What is your go-to item in your closet?

QC: My vintage bags.

NR: What would be a style tip for our readers, when it comes to jewelry? Less is more or the more the merrier?

QC: It could work both ways, depends on the mood.

NR: What are your thoughts on NETROBE?

QC: From the moment I was introduced to the practicality of this application, I loved it. I find it so useful for women to literally carry in their iPhone their whole wardrobe. It is so convenient to browse my drawers and closets and to organize everything with one click!

Her custom made closet!!

Tabitha Simmons mostly wears her own shoes but tries to  switch it up and wear other brands. She keeps them organized by season and swithes out the ones she doen’t need. It’s important to be organized!

These are Tabitha’s favorite shoes inspired by a classic Liberty print. She wears the ‘Baileys’ with a chiffon printed dress and clash the prints and the flowers, and the dolly heels with jeans,  cut-off shorts, capris or dresses.

She got into designing shoes when she used to consult on designer lines, and the interest grew from there. Tabitha gets inspired from so many different things, from her chandelier at home to Victorian jackets.

These are four of  Tabitha Simmon’s favorite dresses. The bird-print dress is by Carolina Herrera, and she wore it to her mother’s wedding recently. The other three  Balenciaga dresses are staple in her summer and winter wardrobes. She always pull one of them out if she is not sure what to wear. Smart!

The corset is Dolce&Gabbana, a gift from the designers after the first show she worked on for them. Tabitha usually wears it with a black men’s suit. The sneakers are “stolen” from Meredith Melling Burke at Vogue and she loves them as the are all white.

That Givenchy show was one of her favourites. She wore this Givenchy outfit to a screening of La Dolce Vita; sometimes she wears it with an American Apparel sweatshirt on top.

This shoe style has been really popular and many celebrities love  it. Tabitha Simmons keeps on repeating it because it can be interpreted in so many different ways and it always seems to work!

Tabitha loves red dresses! The red and gold dress was from Alexander McQueen’s last collection. The red sequined Dolce& Gabbana dress was bought at Fashion’s Night Out . The red and black heart dress is vintage and when she wears it she feels like the Queen in Alice in Wonderland!

Jimmy Choo‘s  founder Tamara Mellon has a large collection of shoes (more than 400) so  the standout among multiple closets is created especially for this. Her shoes are arranged by color and type and stored in boxes labeled with photos for easy identification. Clever!
